Shocking second! Barça star collapses and struggles to breathe, but it gets worse

Barcelona (Spain) - When soccer becomes a minor matter for minutes on end! Things are not exactly going like clockwork for FC Barcelona at the moment , with a completely surprising 2-1 defeat at home to eighteenth-placed UD Las Palmas - their third league game in a row without a win. However, the embarrassing performance at Lluís Company's Olympic Stadium was overshadowed by an incident involving Alejandro Balde (21).

The Barça star caused a moment of shock after a collision with opponent Sandro Ramírez in the 22nd minute. The 22-year-old Spaniard slumped to the ground after the collision with the Canaries center forward and struggled to breathe.

After some anxious moments, the young professional couldn't stop coughing - and threw up. Videos circulating on the internet show the visibly distraught professional lying on the pitch.

Spanish referee Adrián Cordero Vega then interrupted the game for several minutes. Paramedics rushed onto the pitch to attend to the professional, who was eventually taken off the pitch on a stretcher and replaced by Gerard Martín.

FC Barcelona staggers towards the end of the current calendar year

Although the Ramírez goal (49) was equalized in the 61st minute thanks to Raphinha, the 1:1 was only a temporary snapshot. Only a short time later, Fábio Silva (67) gave the visitors the lead again - and thus gave the team of head coach Hansi Flick the next bitter setback in the championship race with La Liga rivals Real Madrid.

"We didn't do well, to be honest," admitted Flick according to Spanish media reports after the game. "When we control games, we can play well. And we generate chances. But if we don't do that, that's our problem," he added.
