The investigation began after concerned neighbors contacted the police. They noticed that the woman was suddenly without a baby. It was reported that she had recently been suffering from postpartum depression.

In an initial interrogation, the mother admitted everything. She confirmed that she had given her child to a woman she did not know for an unknown sum of money and gave details of the motive.
