According to the report, the businesswoman's employee, who lived with the couple in a shared flat, arranged the unscrupulous baby purchase . His boss - allegedly the owner of an ice cream parlor - is said to have put him up to it.

"Find a woman with big breasts to give me her child, if it's a boy, all the better. If it's black, even better," the businesswoman wrote to her employee.

The corresponding chat history was published by the police. The woman has apparently had an unfulfilled desire to have a child for some time and was most recently registered with the national adoption service.

The investigation began after concerned neighbors contacted the police. They noticed that the woman was suddenly without a baby. It was reported that she had recently been suffering from postpartum depression.

In an initial interrogation, the mother admitted everything. She confirmed that she had given her child to a woman she did not know for an unknown sum of money and gave details of the motive. The money should have been transferred to her account in the next few days, she said according to the newspaper"Diário do Nordeste".

In addition to the child's mother, her partner, who is not the biological father, the roommate and the ice cream parlor owner were also arrested. They deny having anything to do with the purchase of the baby.

The child was taken into state custody. The people involved are being investigated for human trafficking.
