Pump gun murder after love break-up! He (66) brutally killed professional ice hockey player (†29)
Espoo (Finland) - He grabbed a shotgun, aimed it at his ex-partner - and fired twice: Rolf Nordmo (66) has been sentenced to life imprisonmentfor the murder of former Finnish ice hockey professional Janne Puhakka (†29).

The public prosecutor's office considered it proven that the 66-year-old had killed his victim in an extremely crude and brutal manner in the fall of last year. This is the result of an announced court decision in Espoo, Finland.
According to the ruling, the 29-year-old died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and injuries to the chest caused by shots to the armpit and back.
"The district court considered the crime aggravated because the violence continued when the victim was defenseless due to the gunshots, the crime came as a surprise to the victim due to the nature of the relationship between the defendant and the victim, and the location of the crime was their former shared apartment," reads today's ruling.
During the trial, Nordmo had confessed to the killing, but also claimed that he had not planned the horrific act. However, the judge took a different view - and rejected the defense's motion, which had previously pleaded manslaughter.
In addition to the prison sentence, the convicted man must also pay compensation to his surviving dependants. The parents will therefore receive 20,000 euros each, while the siblings will receive 11,000 euros each.
Life sentence for pump gun murder
On October 13, 2024, Puhakka was shot dead by Nordmo with a pump-action shotgun on their shared property in Espoo. The bloody deed was probably preceded by the end of the couple's relationship, according to media reports.
Puhakka had been dating Nordmo, 37 years his senior, since 2014, but he only dared to go public at the end of his career in 2018.
