Pope Francis in hospital: new diagnosis for the head of the Church

Rome -Last week, Pope Francis (88) was admitted to hospitalwith bronchitis. Now a new diagnosis has been made as to what the cleric is suffering from.

The pontiff has pneumonia and his medical condition is "complex", the Vatican announced on Tuesday evening.

A computer tomography scan of the head of the Church's chest revealed that both sides of his lungs were inflamed and therefore required medical treatment, according to the statement.

The containment of the disease is made more difficult because it is a polymicrobial infection.

The Pope, who has been in office since 2013 as the successor to Benedict XVI, has been struggling with health problems for some time.

He found it difficult to speak during public appearances. He had hardly left his residence in the Vatican recently.
