Horror accident during training: Gold medal winner (17) tries to lift 270 kilos and dies

Bikaner (India) - A fatal accident has taken place in a gym in India. A 17-year-old girl, who was considered a favorite in powerlifting, died during a training session. The horrifying moment was caught on camera by chance.

Yashtika Acharya, who has won gold medals in powerlifting, according to News18 , died at a fitness center in Bikaner while trying to lift 270-pound weights.

In a video, the 17-year-old can be seen trying to push the barbell up while her trainer secures her from behind.

Suddenly, the heavy bar slips and falls on the girl in front of the other gym-goers.

The impact of the 270 kilogram weights was so violent that the athlete's neck was broken. Her trainer also suffered injuries in the incident.

Yashtika was taken to hospital immediately after the accident, but the doctors were only able to determine that she had died.

The video of her death quickly went viral on social media.
