Five hours of torture: Man tortures woman and hangs dog on the stairs - children hear the screams
USA - An argument between a couple got so out of hand that the woman'sdog tried to intervene. But the man reacted brutally: he hung the animal on a banister and tortured the woman at the same time - all while the children were at home.
Torture, use of a dangerous weapon, home invasion, domestic violence, menacing and animal cruelty are the gruesome charges against 36-year-old James Paul Jolivette Jr.
As reported by the New York Post, the man is due to be sentenced next Wednesday.
But what actually happened? In June 2022, Jolivette Jr. allegedly broke into his wife's home in the US state of California, accused her of having an affair and beat her with a belt for five hours while their two daughters (4 and 12) were at home.
At the time, the couple had been married for 11 years but were living in separate homes "as their relationship had been strained by previous domestic violence."
During the brutal attack, the woman's French bulldog tried to defend her. But Jolivette grabbed the dog, tied a rope around its neck and hung the animal on a banister.

The woman desperately begged her husband to leave her beloved pet alone. In the end, he gave in and released the dog, which was injured but fortunately survived.
But the man was not finished with his crime and continued his violence against his wife.
"Over the course of approximately five hours, the defendant whipped, punched and kicked the victim, threatened her, forced her to kneel facing the wall, and then forced her to rub his back and feet while he laughed at what he was doing to her," the prosecution said.
The two children could hear their mother screaming and crying. She allegedly kept telling Jolivette, "I'm not lying to you!"
James Paul Jolivette Jr. now faces up to ten years in prison.
