The former Hollywood mogul's health is rapidly declining. As the US broadcasters ABC News and NBC News both reported on Monday (local time), Weinstein suffers from chronic myeloid leukemia.

The disease often festers in the body for a long time with virtually no symptoms before the patient's general condition rapidly deteriorates. Thanks to modern medication, the chances of survival have increased considerably in recent decades.

However, Weinstein has a history of health problems, including recurring heart problems. It was only in September that he had to be taken to hospital due to a health emergency.

At a court hearing regarding new allegations in the same month, the 72-year-old looked extremely pale and weak.

Harvey Weinstein sentenced to 39 years in prison - but one sentence was overturned!

Even though the first verdict was overturned (for the time being), Weinstein will probably spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Currently, the sex offender is not believed to be in an outside hospital, but is being treated at Rikers Island jail in New York.

"Out of respect for Mr. Weinstein's privacy, we will have no further comment," Weinstein's legal representative in health matters, Craig Rothfeld, told NBC on Monday evening (local time).

The film producer has now been behind bars for around four and a half years. Since 2017, more than 80 women, including famous actresses, have made allegations against Weinstein and testified against him.

In 2020, he was sentenced to 23 years in prison. However, the sentence was overturned in April due to procedural errors. New hearings were scheduled.

However, the 72-year-old is still languishing in prison, as Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to an additional 16 years in prison in another trial in 2023.
