"Help!" Father tries to put baby to sleep and fails all along the line
London (United Kingdom) - Admittedly: The sleeping behavior of babies really is a science in itself. That's why people are happy to grasp at any supposedly saving straw that promises that their offspring will fall asleep without any problems and, in the best case, sleep through the night. It only gets difficult if you don't really understand the tricks of the pros and use them completely wrong ...
Father Joe Holmes from London was also faced with the task of putting his little daughter to sleep.
According to his wife, who had apparently always taken on this role before, putting her to bed worked best if the so-called white noise was played during the process.
This is just a steady and gentle background noise that is supposed to mimic the environment of the womb. According to Newsweek, a study in which white noise was used on newborns showed that 80 percent of babies fell asleep within five minutes.
The only problem is that father Joe was apparently unaware of the special sound and instead assumed that it must be a song title.
That's why he didn't turn on soothing noise for his little daughter in the evening, but instead played the hit "White Noise" by the well-known British electronic house band "Disclosure". You can see what this did to the baby in a video on TikTok:
In the clip, you can see the cute little girl standing in her crib, happy as can be, dancing to the beat of the music. "Help! My wife told me that our baby would take a nap if I played 'White Noise', but it doesn't work," Joe writes about the video on the platform.
The post spread like wildfire on TikTok, being viewed almost three million times within three days and even reaching the original artists. Singer Aluna Francis wrote that she almost "fainted" from laughter."Disclosure" itself commented that it was the "right choice".
Joe's partner also spoke out to defend herself: "I'm the woman and I can confirm that's not the white noise I was talking about."
As the Brit revealed afterwards, the whole thing was of course just a joke. He had always wanted to make a funny video that contained a pun. However, he never expected his clip to go through the roof like this.
And his daughter? Thanks to the real white noise, she got a good night's sleep after all.
