Wife dreads her husband's Christmas tradition that lasts for hours
Net - In just over a month, Christmas presents will be given again. But what makes children's eyes light up makes some adults feel uneasy about spending time with their families. This is also the case for one Reddit user - and for good reason.
She and her husband have had a baby and have therefore decided to invite each other's families instead of visiting at Christmas.
User tacopirate2589, however, dreads unwrapping presents because this is a truly joint affair with her loved one's family.
"His siblings with children bring all the stockings and wrapped presents to the host family," she describes the framework of the Christmas ritual in a post, but what makes her most uncomfortable is the process.
"The problem with it is that their tradition is that everyone sits in a circle and one person opens one present at a time, shows it to everyone, expresses their gratitude, the whole ordeal," she criticizes the perfect-world ceremony and classifies it as something that takes "forever".
She already got a taste of how long the presentation of gifts can take the year before her wedding. She stopped by her family home for a few hours in between - including an hour's drive there and back.
Wife doesn't feel like unwrapping presents with her husband's family
"When I came back into the house, they had just finished unwrapping the presents," the lady says in agony. She therefore assumes that around six hours were spent handing over parcels, unwrapping them and saying thank you.
She doesn't want to shake the fact that his and her family members come together on Christmas holidays. However, she doesn't want to get used to the idea of giving presents together.
"I already hate getting presents with my family, I'm not going to subject my family to the same ridiculousness," she explains.
