After a five-week trial, 36-year-old Ghulan Mohammed was found guilty last Friday of one count of attempted rape, four counts of sexual assault, one count of theft and four counts of fraud.

According to The Sun, he was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison.

Images from a CCTV camera show the perpetrator driving alongside the victim several times on the night of the crime in December 2023 before stopping to speak to the woman, who was in her mid-20s. He then walked with her for over an hour through the streets of Leicester, England.

He convinced her to get into the back of his car and then drove to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her and attempted to rape her.

In a video releasedby Leicestershire Police, the victim can be seen a short time later desperately banging on the glass at a petrol station and screaming for help. She repeatedly tried to fight Mohammed off, but he grabbed her by the wrists and pulled her back into the car.

The brave woman was eventually rescued because she had sent her live location to her friends and asked for help via voice messages.

When Mohammed thus stopped in a hotel parking lot, her friends arrived in time - they had chased the perpetrator in a cab. When they reached the car, the woman was covered in mud and bruises, while Mohammed was not wearing any trousers.

The perpetrator then fled and the victim called the police, who immediately launched a manhunt.

The investigation revealed that the woman barely spoke English and had to use a translation app to tell the perpetrator to stop and not abuse her.

Detectives searched through hours of video footage to identify Mohammed. He was arrested at his home the following day.
