Bodybuilder collapses in the gym, a short time later he is dead
Rio de Janeiro - Yet another tragic death has shaken the bodybuilding scene. It was only in September that an athlete died tragically in Australia, and now a former MMA star has died shortly after training in a gym.

As"Globo" reports, the popular bodybuilder André Mussi (48) is dead. Shortly after finishing his session in a studio in the Brazilian metropolis of Rio de Janeiro, he collapsed on Tuesday.
He was immediately taken to hospital, where doctors fought for his life but could do nothing more for him. The cause of death has not yet been determined. He is survived by his wife and their son.
Mussi was best known as an MMA fighter because he was one of the first and most successful to practice the sport professionally in Brazil. He won a total of eleven fights in his career between 2004 and 2010. They were held in Brazil, Mexico, the USA and Portugal.
"He was an important part of modern MMA. He reformed the business model and professionalized the sport in Brazil," his good friend Renato Velame (41) tells Globo.
Germany's scene was particularly shaken by the death of fitness influencer Johannes Lindner

After ending his career as an MMA fighter, he dedicated himself to setting up his own "Rush Academy", which specializes in bodybuilding and also offers martial arts courses.
This is how he discovered other talented Brazilian bodybuilders such as his friend Velame or Yuri Carlton and Edilberto Crocotá (41).
Mussi took a liking to entrepreneurial activities and returned to the MMA scene as a manager, looking after various athletes and organizing fights.
The deceased is now to be buried in his home country of Salvador. It is not yet clear when and where a funeral service will take place.
Deaths in the bodybuilding scene have recently been on the rise, with Giluiano Pirone passing away in September at the age of just 33. In Germany, the sudden death of fitness influencer Johannes Lindner (†30), who went by the name "joesthetics", was particularly shocking.
On July 1, 2023, he passed away in his adopted home of Thailand due to a burst aneurysm and was subsequently buried in his Bavarian home of Cham.
