Man flies over Cheops pyramid: What he sees at the top he never thought possible!
Giza (Egypt) - A parachutist has made a strange observation at the top of the Pyramid of Khufu.
"That's my pyramid now!"
Alex Lang must have been amazed. The paramotor pilot from the USA is currently in Egypt with his aircraft, exploring the land of the pharaohs from the air.
Now the parachutist flew over the pyramids of Giza. But who Alex saw happily "hanging around" on the top of the pyramid of Cheops is making the internet smile.
There, at a height of almost 146 meters, a dog had made itself comfortable!
The furry friend was happily sniffing the more than 4600-year-old sandstones at lofty heights, walking back and forth and seemed to think nothing of it.
Naturally, Alex filmedthe curious scenewith his helmet camera and shared it on Instagram. It has already been viewed millions of times, received 650,000 likes and almost 6,000 comments.
Instagram: Alex discovers a dog on the Great Pyramid
Pyramid dog keeps social media busy
"A dog has climbed up the Great Pyramid of Giza! Do you think it lives up there?" asks Alex.
The answers are - of course - not long in coming.
"That's not a dog," says Instagram user Beto Mathevs. "That's the Egyptian god Anubis. He is considered the leader of the dead in the afterlife and the protector of graves. That's why he's on the pyramid." Quite logical.
User Valerya, on the other hand, wants to know: "Did someone save him?" Whereupon a third user reassures her: "The dog probably climbed to the top by itself and will go down the blocks just as easily."
One thing is certain: The furry friend obviously really likes it up there. It is not known whether he came back down voluntarily. However, if you want to climb the 4600-year-old pyramid yourself, you're out of luck. It is strictly forbidden for humans to climb to the top.
