Man embarrasses himself with marriage proposal: what happens next is unexpected

Sirmione (Italy) - What an embarrassing moment! Alexander Nilsson (30) recently embarrassed himself not only in public, but also in front of a TikTok audience. The poor guy had to watch as his girlfriend Estela-Esmeralda Garay Cruz (24) ran away in horror and rolled her eyes when he asked her to marry him. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old was able to laugh in the end.

What had gone wrong? It actually looked so good: Nilsson had flown from Sweden to Italy with his girlfriend to create a romantic atmosphere.

In the beautiful evening sun, he finally got down on one knee in front of Scaliger Castle, a fortress on Lake Garda. In the curious TikTok clip, which went viral last month, everything goes wrong afterwards.

The 24-year-old immediately turns her back on her boyfriend, while some passers-by turn around curiously. Then she finally rolls her eyes. The clip ends with a freeze frame of her horrified look.

After all, instead of an enthusiastic "Yes, I do", there were at least 2.4 million clicks for this harsh rebuff. Or was there still something left?

Second TikTok video shows the whole truth

"When we were on the bus on the way to the castle, I jokingly asked him when he was going to propose," the 24-year-old explained in an interview with Newsweek.

"Then he proposed literally ten minutes later and I thought it was a mean prank at first," she added. But Nilsson was serious.

"He knew I would react like that. He knows me inside out and just thought it was funny," Cruz explained her partner's surprisingly relaxed behavior.

And that's exactly why he knew that he had the best chance of the situation turning in his favor in just a few seconds.

In a second TikTok video, which Cruz published a day later, it can be seen that the proposal actually had a happy ending.

Because in the clip, which plays just a few seconds later, Cruz realizes that she wasn't fooled. Moved, she approaches her boyfriend and accepts his marriage proposal after all. He then gives his fiancée, who is now crying with emotion, a romantic kiss.
