The police are still investigating the case.
Knife attacks are not uncommon in China
Knife attacks happen again and again in China.
In mid-September, the killing of a Japanese boy who was attacked by a man on his way to school in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen caused a stir and anger in the already tense Sino-Japanese relationship.
The foreign ministries of both countries intervened in the case, partly because there were allegations of a hate crime. China rejected the accusations and spoke of an isolated case.
