Dogs abandoned in front of an overcrowded animal shelter: When caretakers read this note, they were heartbroken
Bloomfield (USA) - What a tragic fate! Earlier this week, staff at the Bloomfield Animal Shelter in the US state of New Jersey were on their way to work when they made a horrifying discovery outside the facility.
Two sad-looking dogs were leashed at the entrance to the building, and the former owner of the pelt-noses had also attached a note to them.
When the animal keepers took it and read it, they felt their hearts break into a thousand pieces, they have since reported on Facebook.
"Hey, I'm sorry, but my babies deserve to spend their golden years happily in a good, warm house for the winter," they wrote.
It continued: "I can't take care of them from the street. Our house has been foreclosed so we are now homeless. Please look after them and don't kill them."
The two dogs are named Shadow and Tiger, they are siblings and were born in 2009 - so this year they are celebrating their 15th birthday!
Animal keepers suffer with owners - but are also angry!
The staff were terribly sorry for the fate of the owners. But they were even more frustrated by the way the dogs had been abandoned - simply left on a lead in front of an animal shelter that had no capacity to take in two more four-legged friends.
Fortunately, the animal lovers quickly found a temporary home for the furry friends, where they are now showered with lots of love and warmth.
So while Shadow and Tiger are having the time of their lives, their finders have made it their mission to find their owners. If they don't succeed, they will soon be looking for a forever basket.
One thing is certain: the two brothers will never have to find themselves in a situation like this again.
