It was only at the end of April that it was announced that eight of the seven-time record Formula 1 champion's favorite luxury watches would be auctioned off.

Last Monday, the time had come: not far from Lake Geneva, six watches from the F.P. Journe manufacture, a Rolex and a watch from Audemars Piguet changed hands.

One of the watches really made the cash register ring! A F.P. Journe watch with a personal engraving by his former Ferrari team boss Jean Todt (78) reportedly fetched around 1.2 million Swiss francs (1.2 million euros).

"Christmas 2004 - Jean Todt for my friend Michael Schumacher", it is said to read inside the dial.

But where to put all the money?

The money goes directly into the care of the 55-year-old family man - as reported by RTL.

For more than ten years, the health of Nico Rosberg's former team-mate (38) has been kept a secret - largely thanks to his wife Corinna (55).

She is also said to have decided to make the luxury chronometer available to fans, collectors and watch enthusiasts to mark the 30th anniversary of his first world championship title.

"Christie's thanks the Schumacher family for their trust and their desire to share these masterpieces of watchmaking with other passionate collectors around the world," said auction house representative Rémi Guillemin.

A total of around 3.5 million euros is said to have been realized at the auction in Geneva. However, the auction house did not reveal who acquired the luxury watches of the racing legend.
