A recording of the Instagram live video, which has since been deleted from the soldier's account, attracted a lot of attention on the community platform Reddit (where it can still be viewed).

The footage shows a soldier apparently boasting about how many Ukrainian opponents he has already killed.

But while he is talking about his successes and marching through the area with his comrades, an explosion suddenly occurs. A loud bang is heard, the video goes black and ends abruptly.

The Russian soldier falls to the ground and appears to die instantly.

It didn't take long for the countless and mostly toxic comments to appear online. Many users agreed that the soldier was ill-advised to show himself so casually in the combat zone.

"Well, karma was quick," wrote one user. Another scoffed: "Dude, you're in the middle of a fucking war shooting an insta video. Absolute fools, Slava Ukraini."

"And you're the second best military in the world? Fuck off," scolded another commenter. Many Reddit users also criticized the young Russian's lack of situational awareness and that the soldiers had not maintained tactical distances or sought cover.

However, it is not possible to verify what exactly happened. It is unclear whether the explosion in the video was caused by a rocket impact or an explosive mine. The exact location where the footage was recorded is also unknown.
