Woman shows what she always does before leaving her apartment and reaps millions of clicks

Toronto (Canada) - Is this action ingeniously simple or simply ingenious? Possibly both! Either way, one thing is certain: Sarah Lauren Semkowski (24) from Toronto has landed a huge viral hit with her video. The video has received more than 13 million clicks so far, although the influencer actually only demonstrates a few banalities that she always does before leaving her apartment.

Sometimes it can be that easy. Semkowski has more than 800,000 followers on TikTok. But many of her videos have to make do with a few thousand clicks.

Not so her viral hit with millions. In it, however, the 24-year-old "only" shows how she takes a few basic precautions before leaving the house. Groundbreaking insights? Not a chance!

Semkowski merely checks that the stove and oven are switched off. She takes a look at her candles, which should no longer be burning. She also inspects a few electronic devices in the bathroom.

Despite this, her precautionary measure has been met with enthusiasm by her followers. A total of 1.4 million likes have been collected since December 22.

After this curious success, Newsweek wanted to know more and contacted the Canadian.

"I've always been an anxious person, and growing up, my mom would always ask me before we left the house, 'Are all the straighteners and curlers turned off?' - Or: 'Please blow out the candle before we leave'," she told the US magazine.

According to Semkowski, these little reminders have become part of her routine.

While many users are happy about the tips, others would rather recognize a small overanxious quirk in the influencer.

But Semkowski takes it sportingly: "If it helps someone save time or reassures them before they leave the house, then my work here is done."
