Reanne Ho from Perth(Australia) dined with a group of eight people in a Chinese restaurant at the beginning of January.

The atmosphere was exuberant and Reanne ordered "steamed fish" for herself and her friends, a traditional noodle dish from southern China that is prepared with fresh lobster. There were also some starters, rice and drinks, reports"Perth Now".

Reanne described the situation on Facebook: "The waiter confirmed the order and added five portions. We had no objections. But what happened next left us speechless."

Because: "The real shock came when we received the bill. The lobster pasta dish cost an incredible 615 Australian dollars!" - just under 370 euros.

With all the trimmings, the Australian woman even had to pay 944.30 dollars, which is a whopping 568 euros. The disappointed guest sharedthe corresponding receipt. Reluctantly, Reanne paid the horrendous bill.

When a guest orders live seafood, it is actually customary for the waiter to come to the table, show the product and confirm the weight and price, the guest explains. Instead, the menu simply stated "market price".

What's more, the price charged for the lobster was far too high, says the gourmet.

"Instead of admitting their mistake or apologizing, their response was dismissive and unprofessional. They insisted that the responsibility lay with us as customers because we hadn't asked about the weight or price beforehand," says Reaanne angrily.

Reanne finds the restaurant's business conduct "completely disrespectful" and definitely does not want to come back.

Restaurant reacts: "Were negligent"

The restaurant has since responded. The customer was "in no way deceived" and was charged the usual "market price" for the lobster, it said. The customer could have asked the price in advance and returned the lobster.

"The larger the live seafood is, the more expensive it is," the restaurant explained on Facebook.

However, the operators also admit: "Yes, there was negligence on our part, as we did not inform the customer of the price and weight."
